MARKETS & LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL CORP. was formed by its founder and CEO, Phil Chavanne, in October 1995 as a sister company of French corporation TECTRAD SARL. The original name of the corporation was TECTRAD US, Inc. The company changed its name to its current name on 08/31/2006. It has been operating under its new name ever since.

In 1999 MARKETS & LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL CORP. took on the role of technology advisor for US corporation IWM INC., a corporation specializing in online marketing. The company gradually refocused its marketing business line on R&D in the field of online marketing, acting as the outsourced R&D laboratory of IWM Inc. for online marketing technology.
From 1999 to 2007 MARKETS & LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL CORP. helped IWM Inc. design and build 2700+ websites and 40 portals for the hospitality industry. Under its technology guidance and search engine marketing advice, the websites managed by IWM Inc. generated over Euros 50 million in bookings for independent hotel operators.
In February 2007, MARKETS & LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL CORP. opened an office in Beijing and another office in Xiamen, People's Republic of China. It refocused its entire business model on China, advising Chinese hotels, then advising Chinese exporters of hand-made goods.
